Ruby Petty Obituary
PEORIA - Ruby J. Petty, 76, of Peoria passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center at 12:25 a.m.
She was born July 1, 1940, in Inver, MS, to the late George Staples and Ora Clark. She married Frank Petty. He survives.
Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Love Joy C.O.G.I.C. Prior to Love Joy, she was a member of Calvary Full Gospel for many years. Ruby loved fishing, shopping, cooking and cleaning, but most of all, she loved to dress and travel.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two sons, Franklin Petty lll of St. Louis, MO, and Joseph (Amanda) Petty of Peoria; three daughters, Gloria (Joe) Petty of Peoria, Patricia Porter of Mississippi and Sandra Petty of Peoria; two brothers, Frank and Acey (Pat) Staples, both of St. Louis, MO; three sisters, Mattie Hunt and Ora Gardner, both of Peoria, and Yvonne Staples of St. Louis, MO; 18 grandchildren; and two special friends, Doris Lawson and Sheryl Crone; along with a host of great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by two brothers.
Services will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Love Joy C.O.G.I.C. at 11 a.m., with visitation commencing one hour prior. Pastor Otha Boyde Sr. will officiate. Ruby will be laid to rest in Lutheran Cemetery.

Ruby, you will be sorely missed. To the Petty family, I extend my condolences. I've known you all most of my life and my heart is hurt, by your loss. Ruby was one of the most loving and consistent people that I've ever known. She showed love to everyone. Whenever I would come to Peoria, I made it a priority to attempt to contact Ruby and she always greeted me as if I were family. I've tried to reach out to Sandra, Gloria Jean, and Cartez, but was unsuccessful. I just want you all to know that I love this family and the world lost a great person. God felt that it was time to bring her on home. God knows she worked hard to serve him. My fondest memories of Ruby was how sharp she used to dress and that infectious smile. God Bless!
