Sarah Joann LaBerdia
PEORIA - Sarah Joann LaBerdia, 89, of Peoria passed away at 2:50 a.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021, at River Crossing of East Peoria.
She was born on June 11, 1932, in Plymouth, NC, to the late Hilton and Sarah Lord Gordon. She married Gordon L. LaBerdia on March 17, 1962, in Peoria Heights. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 2012.
Surviving are her son, Rick Holmes; two step-children, William (Rose) LaBerdia and Judy (John) Lykins; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Marge Coogan; and several nieces and nephews. Sarah was also blessed with her special friends, Linda and Ora.
Sarah formerly worked as a secretary with a local insurance company and volunteered at Proctor Hospital.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Visitation will be one hour before services on Wednesday, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
