LOWPOINT- Sean Michael Ellis, 38, of Lowpoint, formerly of Washington, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 1:45 P.M. at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He squared off with cancer, and fought, even when he knew he wouldn't win.
Sean was born on April 22, 1977, in Peoria to Mike and Kathy Chasco Ellis.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Kathy and Bob Noe of Lowpoint; father and stepmother, Mike and Loriann Ellis of West Peoria; siblings, Seth (Miranda) Ellis of Eureka and their children, Lillie, Rie and Fallon, Shannon Eagle of Morton and her children, Sarah and Benen, Elizabeth (Dennis Hunt) Noe of Tampa, FL, Luke Grow and Shelby Grow, both of West Peoria; many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his group of closest friends, often known as the "Dew Crew."
Sean was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Lorene Chasco; paternal grandparents, Richard and Phyllis Ellis; and his best friend and cousin, Ryan Chasco.
He was a 1995 graduate of Washington Community High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 2001-2005. He was proud veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving a tour overseas in 2003. He also studied and earned his Associates degree at Illinois Central College and most recently attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, studying journalism and history. Sean always cherished his time with his nieces and nephews. He loved all animals, especially his own cat and dogs. Sean also enjoyed comic books, anime, science fiction, and movies. He loved the Boy Scouts and the times he spent at Camp Ingersoll.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 206 or to Wildlife Prairie Park in Peoria, where he loved to hike.
A Celebration of Life for Sean will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at 1 P.M. at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Chaplain Chuck Wilcox will officiate. There will be a memorial visitation on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 2 to 5 P.M. at the funeral home and also a half hour visitation prior to the service on Sunday. There will be a private inurnment at Rock Island National Cemetery at a later date.
