Seth W. Unruh
TOLUCA - Seth William Unruh, 19, of Toluca, died on Aug. 1, 2020, near Benson. He was born on Aug. 15, 2000 in Peru to Anthony and Janey (Porch) Unruh. Seth graduated from Fieldcrest High School in 2019. He was an apprentice laborer for Central Laborers Local 996 in Roanoke.
From a very early age it was clear that Seth was going to be his own head strong, stubborn, fun loving, old soul. He had a way of doing things which may have not always been the most conventional but he always got the job done. He never started a job he didn't finish, whether it be picking up walnuts with his dad or mowing Mrs. Gerdes' lawn. Then on to bigger yards, the Pattonsburg Christian Church, or bailing hay. Seth was always the "go to" man for getting a crew together to get any task done. He was absolutely a leader, and not a follower.
Seth never met a stranger, and was a part of a tight knit group of friends. He didn't just have friends his age, he had friends of all ages, from the very young to his Minnesota fishing buddies. Always the life of the party at any family function or event, he was quick with a joke and had a twinkle in his eye.
As a brother, Seth was a protector, instigator, and a confidant. But above all, someone who would always have your back through thick and thin. As Eliza would say, he was ignorant and accurate.
Seth was following in the footsteps of his Dad, uncles, grandfathers in the laborers local.
In his short 19 years, Seth lived a full 85 years, getting a lifetime of experience in everything he did.
R.I.P. & Fly High our amazing son, brother, nephew, cousin, friend and Honorary Mayor of Pattonsburg. Put those wings to amazing use.
Seth is survived by his parents Anthony and Janey Unruh; brothers, Devron Unruh of Urbana, Jon Unruh of Colorado and Bret Unruh of Havana; sisters, Melissa (Jerry) Schrek of Normal, Eliza (Landon Jimenez) Unruh of Toluca and Eyan Unruh of Toluca; high school sweetheart Leah White-in Seth's words, "Not just my girlfriend, my best friend". Seth also has a very large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins from the Porch and Unruh families.
Seth was preceded in death by his sister Autumn Unruh; grandparents Mel & Rocky Porch, Earl & Nancy Unruh; and cousins Rachel & Korey Korenchuk.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, 2020 at Tony & Janey's Farm, at 2444 County Road 100N Toluca. Those attending are asked to please wear a mask or face covering. A private family service and inurnment will follow.

Dear Anthony and and Janey Unruh,
We would like to extend our deep condolences on the loss of your son, Seth. We also lost a teenage son so I believe I have some insight into what you are feeling at this time.
I see Seth was an exceptional young man. I have heard of his adventures with Travis and friends from Travis’s mother, my cousin and son, Adam’s, godmother, Candace Cook.
Your pain will eventually grow less excruciating and his memory will integrate into you.
I shall pray for your peace,
Jennifer Young-Foote

Janey & Tony ~

Remember the cereal commercial ~ the kids say, “Let’s get Mikey”. . . .
Blessed, that is the relationship I enjoyed with Seth & Travis ~ 'let's get Miz' ~ their ‘wheels’ (prior to serious girlfriends & driver licenses.) So fun! Always laughing, full of mischief, ready for a great time ~ maybe even a hidden agenda. I relished getting ‘the call’: ‘Hey Miz, will you take me & Seth to' . . . the show ~ buy fireworks ~ shopping ~ pizza ~ whatever. Usually short notice but I never remember not going. Precious moments ~ Leroy & our whole family totally enjoyed these two but as the designated driver, I got the full fabulous experience. I loved every second, I knew my time was limited ~ being included in each 'plan' was a joy. . A special time - inseparable buddies. Seth was a welcomed & wonderful extension to Kevin’s family ~ Travis yours.

He was so proud of all of you ~ he laughed as he repeated jokes both of you told, he talked about playing family games, your wonderful family vacations & fishing with his Dad. He delighted in the family history of your home, both of his Grandpa’s & teasing his siblings. He was immensely impressed by his Grandpa Porch's great faith & knowledge of the Bible.

Tragic ~ Timing incomprehensible ~ Too devastating for words~ Impossible to understand. . Loved for his endearing smile, wonderful thick head of hair, twinkling eyes, easy going charm (with mischievous fun undertones), great personality & his genuine, grounded heart & soul. Anyone lucky enough to know Seth appreciated it all ~ one of a kind. I didn’t know his two friends, but it sounds like they were extraordinary as well. Our hearts go out to all of the friends & families. When feeling the excruciating loss, realize the love involved ~ how sad it would be if there was no pain.

Missed forever, never forgotten. Always ~ loved, cherished & a great soul woven into our hearts. .
You raised one truly exceptional, unique, wonderful son.
