LACON - Steven Pace, a longtime resident of Lacon, Ill., born April 12, 1943, in Providence, R.I., died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his home in Kissimmee, Fla., following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Mary Jo Pace; and sons, John Thomas Pace (Jen) of Keystone Heights, Fla., Joshua Eldon Patterson Pace (Erin) of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; and daughter, Ann Marie Marquis (Philippe) of Lakewood, Colo.; five granddaughters and two grandsons; brother, Ole Pace of Sterling, Ill.; sister, Ann Sutton of Jacksonville, Fla.; and his beloved best friend, Duke.
Steven was a devout fundamental Christian, locally known as a Bible scholar and prayer warrior whose faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was absolute and unwavering.
Steven's professional life was of individual and family counseling in Champaign, Peoria and Henry, Ill. He retired to Florida in 1999 and continued private counseling as an adviser to church counseling staff.
In honoring Steven's wishes, there will be no memorial service.
Memorial donations may be made to Living Water Fellowship, 4101 Pleasant Hill Road, Kissimmee, FL 34746.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Osceola Memory Gardens Funeral Homes, Cemetery and Crematory.

I did not know Steven that well but went to school with his older brother we called 'Butch' My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire Pace family. May the Good Lord give you the strength to heal your great loss.

Steven (I knew him as "Spike")and I grew up together in Lacon. We were next door neighbors and playmates as young kids. I have wonderful memories of this time in my life and Steven is part of these memories. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
