Steven Sammis Obituary
MARQUETTE HEIGHTS - Steven Michael Sammis, age 69, of Marquette Heights passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018, at 1:03 a.m. at UnityPoint Health-Methodist in Peoria.
He was born on April 9, 1949, in Peoria to Gerald and Mary Lou (McCann) Sammis. He married Paula Edwards on March 7, 1969, in Peoria. She survives, along with two sons, Mike (Leanna) Sammis of North Pekin and David (Jamie) Sammis of Morton; four grandchildren, Cade, Zachary, Olivia and Annie; and one sister, Marilyn (Bob) Burdette of Marquette Heights.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Edward Sammis.
Steven was a Type Setter for Tradetype Services in East Peoria until his retirement. Following his retirement, he worked at Lutheran Hillside Village in maintenance.
He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in East Peoria. He was also an avid boater, last boating out of East Port Marina in East Peoria. Steven was an excellent husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was known for his infectious laugh and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Peters Lutheran Church in East Peoria. The Rev. Kurt Mews will officiate. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Friday at the church. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church.

Paula, kids and grandkids.......My love and warm hugs are being sent. You chose a wonderful picture of Steve. We had great times boating on the river. Yes....his laugh was infectious!! He was always such fun to be around. You too, Paula. You were a wonderful wife and always willing to go along with Steve to enjoy his antics.
