William Moldenhauer Obituary

pekin - William Emil "Bill" Moldenhauer, 90, of Pekin passed away at 7:32 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at The Grand Victorian of Pekin.

Born Nov. 13, 1921, in Forest City to Christian "Chris" and Mary (Zimmerman) Moldenhauer, he married Virginia Mae "Vicky" Harris on May 19, 1946, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Manito. She died Jan. 7, 2007, in Pekin.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fred Moldenhauer, Herman Moldenhauer and Albert Moldenhauer; and four sisters, Pauline Hanel, Pearl Ripper, Irene Pfeiffer and Leola Pfeiffer.

Surviving are one daughter, Darla (Beth Cooper) Moldenhauer of Bourbonnais; two sons, Dennis William Moldenhauer of Easton and Mark Moldenhauer of Topeka; two brothers, Howard (Marilyn) Moldenhauer of San Jose and Harold (Carol) Moldenhauer of Delavan; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind a special friend, Elizabeth "Betty" Armbrust of Manito.

He was a 1939 graduate of Forest City High School. Together, Bill and his wife farmed for 41 years in the Forest City, Delavan and Easton areas before retiring to Pekin in 1987.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Manito and the Mason County Farm Bureau.

He and his wife had been active in the Tri-County Twirlers square dance group and the Coachman Camping Club for many years.

Bill was a true Christian man who was very soft-spoken, honest, kind and always saw the good in things.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Manito.

Pastor Eugene Haug will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where there will be a remembrance service at 4 p.m.

Additional visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.

Darla, Dennis and Mark,
My sincere condolences and sympathies on the passing of your father. He truly was a good Christian man, and I remember his smile and laugh very well. He always had bits of wisdom and insight to share; quite a bit of good old common sense, so rare these days.
