PEORIA - William R. Rinkenberger, 92, of Cissna Park, father of Peoria-area residents, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2014, at his home.
Bill was born on Sept. 24, 1921, in Cissna Park, the son of Jacob and Lydia Ramseyer Rinkenberger. He married Marjorie Bauer on November 21, 1943, in Cissna Park, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Devon) Rinkenberger of Morton and Robert (Sally) Rinkenberger of Congerville; three daughters, Ann (Richard) Steiner of Tremont, Kathleen (Richard) Sutter of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Karol (Tom) Stock of Cissna Park; a daughter-in-law, Velma Rinkenberger of Cissna Park; two sisters, Marjorie Alt of Cissna Park and Arlene Kaehr of South Bend, Ind.; 26 grandchildren; and 85 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; three sisters; and one son, Stephen.
Mr. Rinkenberger was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park and was a dairy farmer for 33 years in the Cissna Park area. Known for his love of farming and his commitment to his faith, he will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his God and his wife of 70 years and his unconditional love of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
While his work ethic was unparalleled, he never worked on Sunday and knew how to enjoy life with his family. He was a role model for all who knew him - a man of faith and a man of his word.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park. Ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Cissna Park. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today, March 29, 2014, at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall in Cissna Park and one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Apostolic Christian Church in Cissna Park or Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury.
