William Sidell Obituary
PEKIN - William Leroy Sidell Sr., 90, of Pekin passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Timbercreek Center in Pekin. Born March 6, 1927, in Pekin to Charles and Flora (Cohenour) Sidell. He married Dorothy Ziebold on December 27, 1945, in San Francisco, CA. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, William Jr. and Hannelore, Mark and Ann; six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and one brother.
The son of an IL River commercial fisherman, he joined the U.S. Navy twice during WWII. Once as a minor, telling the Navy Department that he was his older brother, they sent him home. He rejoined the Navy the day he turned 17. He served in the South Pacific aboard the U.S.S. Napa for the duration of the war. He retired from Keystone Steel and Wire Co. after 30 years. He then was an over-the-road semi driver for an additional 15 years. Preceding him in death are his parents, five brothers and one sister. He now waits for us in Heaven. Per his wishes cremation has been accorded and no services will be held. The Cremation Society of Mid-Illinois Co. Pekin/Peoria is assisting the family with arrangements.
