Richard Buck Obituary

Richard L. ("Dick") Buck
11/7/1937 - 1/5/2014

Richard L ("Dick") Buck, 76, of Meadow Vista, born November 7, 1937 in Detroit, Mich., went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 5 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Peggy; daughters, Diane Wesley (husband Jim) and Debbie Bryditzki (husband Scott), both of Auburn; son, David Buck (wife Rhodena) of Senoia, Ga.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Dick was born to Jack and Ruth Buck, who served as missionaries in Borneo, Indonesia and also grew up in Southern California. He attended high school at Hampton DuBose Academy in Zellwood, Fla., where he met Peggy. He graduated from El Camino Junior College in Torrance, Calif. He served in the insurance industry and held multiple positions with State Farm Insurance for over 35 years. He faithfully served in various leadership positions at his church, the last being Evangelical Free Church (now Cornerstone Church) in Auburn.
Dick loved water sports and was an accomplished water skier. He loved camping, golf and working on his five acres of property. He could repair anything that needed it and had a brilliant technical mind. His sharp management and organizational skills, quick wit and broad smile were well known. He loved God and will be dearly missed by family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of Sierra Ridge Memory Care of the incredible love, compassion and care given to Dick during his last 2 1/2 years.
A memorial service was held Friday, January 10, 2014 at Sierra Ridge Memory Care and the New Auburn Cemetery.
The family encourages friends to sign the Auburn Journal online guestbook. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Dick's name to the Lewy body Dementia Association, Inc. at http://lbda.org/content/ways-to-give.

Having worked with Dick for many years at State Farm, I always admired the calming manner in which he dealt with our customers. He was very professional, compassionate and never lost his composure. He always spoke lovingly and with enormous pride about his family and the joy they brought to his life. He was one of a kind!

My name is Kahn Kochi and I worked with Dick when he worked for State Farm in Yuba City. He really knew his claims handling and was always a great resource. I was really sad to hear about his passing. My thoughts are with all of you at your time of loss

I am so sorry for your loss. My name is Susan Erickson. You may remember me as one of the two visitors for Virginia Souza at Sierra Ridge (the other being her daughter, Julie). We all liked Dick. I wish you all peace and strength at this time of healing.
