Donald Stouffer Obituary

Donald Floyd Stouffer, 91, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:34 am, Sunday, November 23, 2025, at The Waters of Wabash West. He was born on July 13, 1934, in Wabash, Indiana, to Asa Carl and Esther Rebecca (Whistler) Stouffer.

Don was a 1952 graduate of Linlawn High School. He married Doris Irene Millican at Wabash Friends Church on May 29, 1955; she died June 27, 2022. Don was a lifelong farmer in Wabash County. He was a 91 year member of Wabash Friends Church and a longtime member of the Wabash County Cattle Feeders Association. He was the kindest, big-hearted guy one could ever know; he lived his life in the home where he was born, a quiet conservative Quaker with a gentle smile and laugh for everyone. He attended the Purdue Short Course the winter of 1953, and he served as a Conscientious Objector with the USDA for two years in Maryland testing milk during the Korean Conflict. He farmed and helped drive tractor up through 2023; he told stories of his dad turning over the "new" John Deere 4 row corn planter in 1950, when he was 16. Don loved being at home, walking through the feeder calves, and nearly every day, regardless of the season, driving off to check crops with no particular destination in mind. He'd say, "going around the block." In the last 20 years, he'd tell Doris he was 'going around the block,' and he would end up in Fort Wayne, Indy, or Louisville, watching his grandkids play AAU basketball, volleyball, soccer, and football. His family loved to find him lurking in the corner of a random gym.

He is survived by four children, Diane DeWitte of Montgomery, Minnesota, Denise Stouffer, Dale (Kelly) Stouffer, and Dean (Cheryl) Stouffer, all of Wabash; four grandchildren, Parker (Katie) Stouffer of Wabash, Jared (Kari) Stouffer of Wetumpka, Alabama, Jonah (Sumer Kurtz) Stouffer of Jacksonville, Florida, and Kathryn (Dylan) Snell of Indianapolis, Indiana; six great-grandchildren, Adrian Stouffer, Riley Stouffer, Austen Stouffer, Elias Stouffer, Trace Stouffer, and Moses Stouffer. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law Brad DeWitte, brother, Adrian Stouffer, and his sister, Margaret Metzger.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Wabash Friends Church, 3563 S. State Road 13, Wabash, with David Phillips and Jared Stouffer officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash.

Preferred memorial is Ridge Church in Wetumpka, Alabama.
