Kenneth Rupley Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" R. Rupley, 81, of Huntington, joined the love of his life, Barbara, at 4:17 pm Monday, March 31, 2025, at Stillwater Hospice Home.

Kenny was born on November 22, 1943, in Huntington, IN, the son of Henry Rupley and Grace (Wagner) Rupley.

He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the class of 1961. Kenny married Barbara Ann Gurtner on June 23, 1968, in Huntington, IN, at St. Peter's First Community Church; she preceded him in death on August 17, 2016.

Kenny was a member of The Chapel of Fort Wayne, IN. He was a past President of the Bippus Lions Club and Chairman of the board of Bippus State Bank, both titles he was very proud of. Kenny was also a member of the Properties Committee of the Huntington County 4-H Association, on the committee of Whitley County Plow Days, and sponsored the Huntington and Noble County Kids Pedal Tractor Pull. Kenny often bought 4-H animals at the Huntington, Whitley, Wells, and Noble County auctions; he even went in on champion animals at the Indiana State Fair. He proudly served in the Army National Guard. Kenny started his career at Coble Farm Equipment in South Whitley, IN. He then went on to own and operate Rupley Farm Equipment for 45 years. Kenny was known and loved for a variety of different reasons throughout the community. He organized and took part in the Rupley Dixson Square Dancers. He absolutely loved to entertain others and take them out to dinner, even if it was a three hour drive one way.

Kenny was fascinated with the Amish community and culture, he often would take friends and family over to Holmes County, Ohio, to share the experience with others. Kenny was notorious for telling stories that you were not sure were 100 percent factual and always wanted to have the last word. Through it all, Kenny was a very caring person, if he noticed there was someone in need, he would organize benefits to help others in the community. Survivors include his Four Nieces, Christine (Darrel) Johnson of Huntington, IN, Cynthia (Leonard) Coburn of Columbia City, IN, Linda (Roger) Carroll of Huntington, IN, and Beth (Jim) Stricker of South Whitley, IN; Three Nephews, David (Kim) Rupley of South Whitley, IN, James "Jim" (Lynn) Rupley of Wolcottville, IN, and Henry (Debra) Kahn of Ashland, KY. He is preceded in death by his Wife, Barbara Ann Rupley, Father, Henry H. Rupley, Mother, Grace Rupley, Brother, Milton Rupley, Sister, Betty Kahn, and Nephew, Mickey Kahn.
