Valerie Adele May, 71, Bunker Hill, Indiana, passed away at 9:35 p.m. on Monday, May 23, 2022, at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.
Born April 11, 1951, Ashland, Kentucky, she was the daughter of William Jefferson and Dottie A. (George) May.
She was a 1970 graduate of North Miami High School, where she excelled in art. She had received a scholarship for her artistic skills and had attended Ball State University. Over the years, she was active with the arts community in Miami County.
Survivors include two sisters, Patricia Durham, Mexico; and Jodie Shives, Hanahan, South Carolina; one nephew, Christopher Hughes, Hanahan, South Carolina; and great-niece and nephew, Liliana and Tyler Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jeffrey N. May; and one infant brother.
A graveside service will be held at Dixon Cemetery, Ashland, Kentucky, during the summer.

Valerie was such a blessing in my life, she was my best friend for many years. Val was one of the kindest most honest persons I have ever known. My heart is so broken right now and I will never forget her. Until we meet again my sweet friend, I love you.
