Charles San Filippo Obituary

Charles F. San Filippo Sr. died Sunday, Nov. 2.

Born on Feb. 27, 1917, he was a resident of Monroe County from 1978 to 2000.

Retiring from the U.S. Navy in 1969, he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He retired from teaching in 1982 from East New York Vocational School.

Surviving are one daughter, Dorothy Heller in Long Island and son-in-law Jeffrey Heller of Henryville; one son, Charles San Filippo Jr. and his wife Linda; one brother, Anthony San Filippo; one sister, Kay Petruzzelli; seven grandsons, Dillmont, James, Michael, Joseph, Gary, Jeffrey and Nicholas; two great-granddaughters, Jasmine and Kira; one great-grandson, Caleb; and nieces and nephews.

Charles will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, St. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Interment will take place in Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y.

Viewing will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, and 8 p.m. Thursday at Mangano Funeral Home, 1701 Deer Park Ave., Deer Park, L.I., N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made to VA Medical Center of Northport, Attn: Dialysis Clinic 11R, 79 Middleville Road, Northport, N.Y. 11768.
