Connor Howell Obituary

Connor Nathan Howell, 18, of Saylorsburg, unexpectedly passed on Tuesday, June 26, during an afternoon swim at Saylors Lake.

He was the son of Graden and Wendy Howell and the brother of Jonas Howell and the late Jesse Howell.

His immediate family includes maternal grandparents, Nathan "Skip" and Betty Kresge; an aunt, Wanda Kresge; paternal grandparents, George and Janet Weidensaul; and an aunt, Rebecca Weidensaul Gigli.

He was a student at Stroudsburg High School, Stroudsburg Middle School and Hamilton Elementary.

His life was characterized by his devoted friendships and the care and appreciation he had for his family.

He most enjoyed being outdoors, especially biking or traversing local woodlands.

His vocational interests included the industrial arts, welding in particular.

Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing at 9:30 a.m. and funeral services at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 29, at the William H. Kresge Funeral Home Inc., Route 209, Brodheadsville, PA 18322.

Connor yo bro i can't believe its been 14 months....your in my thoughts everyday...i miss chillen with you, sam and lee..you would always come for rides with me when nobody else wood...i remember one specific conversation and how you said, "molly if you were straight I'd date you" and i said "i'd date you two if i was straight" ..lol i miss you conman you'll always be in my heart until we can meet again...REST EASY CONMAN!!!

Graden,Wendy and Family,

I just want to say that it was a terrible tragedy one that I haven't been able to get out of my mind. I prayed and prayed they would get him out. As I waited and prayed the one thing I will never forget was the young man I watched try to save his friend. "Unidentified" in the paper but to those who looked on will remember him as a hero and a person we would be honored to have as a friend as I'm sure Connor knew also. He never left him alone and stood by his side until help came. May he never feel guilt for we know that he gave 110%. May he find peace someday.

Connor, You were the biggest influence in my life, you inspired me to go back to school and make my life good. you were, for as long as i can remember, there for me whenever i needed you. Theres no way that i could ever express how much i love you and how much you mean to me. Tomorrow its going to be two weeks already. I still wake up in the morning and expect to see you in my living room waiting for me to get up.

Im so very sorry for your loss. I was really good friends with him. We hung out alot at Amandas house. I didnt talk to him that much on the phone because he was either working or at Amandas house. I went out with him a couple of weeks in April. Amanda introduced us one day at the mall when they both were there. He was going to go back out with me once he found a better job that he didn't have to work so many hours and he would be able to spend more time with me. He was good at comforting his friends when they needed him the most. When his friends needed a good laugh he tried his best to make them laugh. When they needed a shoulder to cry on he gave his shoulder to be leaned on. He was one of the few friends that i had that understood me. The last time that i spoke to him he had told me that he loved me but of course we were fighting and i was mad at him so i never told him that i loved him back. I was away at camp when all this happened so I couldnt go to the services. I went to camp to have fun and meet new people I never exspected that i would come back and find one of my best friends dead. I came home from camp on Saturday my grandmother told me to sit down and then she gave me the newspaper articles and told me to read them. I denied it at first that it was Connor. It couldnt be Connor. Connor wouldnt go swimming in a lake and drown and never come back alive. Then I finally found out that it was true. I started crying. I havent stopped crying since i found out. I suddenly wake up at night from a nightmare. I hear Connor screaming for help! I see his scared face! I wish he could come back. I wish i could of gotten the chance to go to the services and got the chance to say good bye to him. I went to the grave and the lake on Monday with Amanda. When i was at the grave i couldnt believe that Connor was 6 feet under me. When we got to the lake i couldnt believe that was the very spot that Connor was seen alive. I sat on the dock that he had jumped off into the water. Some of those ciggarett buts that were by the bench were some of Connor's so I couldnt sit there. I started to think about him and who he really was and started to cry. Connor was a great person and loved his family and friends so much. He will always be remembered as that sweet and caring person. He will always be in my heart and i will always love him. I know that Connor would want us to be strong for each other and to stop crying. Connor is looking back at his life and not regreting a single bit of it. He had family and friends that stuck by his side and gave him so much love and good times. He is watching over us and still trying to protect us form the bad things. I think that he wants us to remember the good times that we shared with him instead of the bad times. He is with us where ever we go. He is in a better place now and we will all meet up with him again. Im not ready to let go of him and ajust to him not being here. Im starting to realize that he is gone and that he wants us to move on with our life. I just want to be able to wrap my arms around him and never let go. He is up in heaven watching over Jesse. If you need anything dont hesitate to try and get ahold of me. I will probaly be at the grave and lake frequently just sitting there and talking to Connor. I love him forever and always. I met Connor when I lived in Saylorsburg. He was friends with James Roberts. Every time I saw Connor he had a smile on his face and a kind word.
