Frank C. "Bud" Rathbone, 78, of Canadensis, died Sunday morning, May 30, in his home. He was the husband of Mildred (Schirg) Rathbone, at home, with whom he had celebrated 47 years of marriage on Sept. 22, 2003.
Born on Feb. 15, 1926 and raised in Canadensis, he was the son of the late Clyde and Edith (Shoesmith) Rathbone. Frank lived in Levittown for 40 years until retiring and moving back to Barrett Township in 2000.
He was a carpenter for Local 31 in Trenton, N.J. and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.
Frank was a member of the Canadensis United Methodist Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his later years, he enjoyed boating on Lake Wallenpaupack.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Mark Rathbone of Tullytown; three grandchildren: Mary Wiggett of Jackson, N.J., Jennifer Miller of Manalapan, N.J. and Matthew Rathbone of Levittown; two great grandchildren, Skye Wiggett and Jessie Wiggett; a sister, Ann Bridgman of Panther Valley, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, from the Canadensis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Russell E. Walters officiating. Burial will be private.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 or to the Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center, 231 East Brown Street, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
