James E. Kauth, 45, of Middle Smithfield Township, died Sunday, Oct. 9, upon arrival at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, after being stricken at home. He was the husband of Lori J. (Shook) Kauth with whom he had shared 17 years of marriage.
Born on May 12, 1960, in Massapequa, N.Y., he was the son of John and June (Potvin) Kauth of Stroudsburg.
A resident of Monroe County for the past eight years, he moved from Virginia where he was an Orthopedic Technologist at I.N.O.V.A. Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1978 to 1981; was a member of the N.R.A.; and a volunteer instructor at the Sunset Rod & Gun Club in Henryville.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by one son, James D. Kauth, at home; one brother, John A. Kauth of Charleston, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Private memorial services will take place at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Eastern Pa. Chapter of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 2 International Plaza, Suite 245, Philadelphia, PA 19113.

I never met Jim but my son Tony Smyth thought the world of him. He worked with him at the Gun Range and he told me that everyone there thought he was a "great guy."
