James Schulze Obituary

James A. "Coach" Schulze, 49, of Hackettstown, N.J., died on Friday morning, March 25, at the Mid Valley Hospital Hospice, Peckville.

He was born Sept. 29, 1955, in Teaneck, N.J., the son of Virginia A. (Carlsen) Schulze of Marietta, Ga., and the late Eugene Schulze.

James was a resident of Hackettstown, N.J., since 1993 and prior to that of Marietta, Ga.

He attended Lehigh University in Bethlehem. He was the All Conference Offensive Guard, #68, for the 1977 Lehigh University Engineers National Championship Football Team. He was the strength and conditioning coach for Georgia Tech University in Georgia when they won a national championship.

Since then, he worked for United Parcel Service in Mount Olive, N.J., and later at the Home Depot in Mansfield, N.J.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one brother, Eugene F. Schulze Jr. of Marietta, Ga.; two sisters, Virginia E. Schulze of Atlanta, Ga., and Vanice DeVirgiliis of Athens, N.Y.; and his best friends, Alison and Peter Murray, of Hackettstown, N.J

Memorial funeral services will be held at the end of April at Lehigh University, Bethlehem. Please call the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home at (570) 421-7760 after April 15 for service information.

Cremation will be in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg. There will be no viewing
