John J. Magrosky Sr.

John J. Magrosky Sr., 80, of Scotrun, died Monday, June 8, at his son's home in Jackson Township. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Thubborn) Magrosky with whom he shared 61 years of marriage at the time of her death on July 13, 2008.

Born on July 10, 1928, in Eckley, he lived in Monroe County for most of his life and was a Martz Trailways bus driver for many years.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Roman Catholic Church in Tannersville.

He is survived by two sons, James Magrosky and his wife, Janet, of Jackson Township and John J. "Jack" Magrosky Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Cynthia Mayenschien and her husband, Eddie, of Virginia; two sons-in-law, Ron Mieczkowski of Edison, N.J., and Leonard Litzi; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, James J. Magrosky and his wife, Pamela, of Jackson Township; a sister, Delores DeSanto and her husband, Angelo, of Mount Pocono; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra Mieczkowski and Madgelene Litzi.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
