Kenneth Altemose Obituary

Kenneth H. Altemose, 83, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Aug. 9, 2009.

Born on June 23, 1926, in Sciota, he was a son of the late Edward Harrison Altemose and Nettie V. Freeman) Altemose.

He was employed by Graver Trucking for 30 years; Paul Ace Trucking; and Van Fleet Excavating in later years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

His hobbies included dirt stock car racing.

He is survived by his children: Allen Altemose of Stroudsburg; Verna Janusz of East Stroudsburg; Jean Marvin and husband, Layton, of Saylorsburg; Jamie Altemose of Scranton; and Debra Kollmer of East Stroudsburg. Also 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by sisters, Arvilla Van Buskirk and husband, Leroy, and Julia Hillyerd, all of South Carolina; and brothers, Herbert Altemose and Forrest Altemose, both of South Carolina and Freeman Altemose of Stroudsburg.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Martin and granddaughter, Jayne Marie.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. with funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Lanterman & Allen Funeral Home, 27 Washington St., East Stroudsburg.
