Born in Floral Park, N.Y., on Jan. 7, 1917, he was the son of the late Stanley Sr. and Josephine (Gurka) Galasieski.
Retiring in 1983, he was employed as a maintenance supervisor for the Pleasant Valley School District in Brodheadsville.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in General Patton's 4th Armored Division Company B 216th Armored Medical Battalion. He received the Bronze Star, American Service Medal, Presidential Distinguished Unit Badge, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert. He was also a life member of the 4th Armored Division Association in Farrell.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by one daughter, Clare Cillano and her husband, Joseph, of Bayville, N.Y.; two sons, Rick Galasieski and his wife, Pixie, and John Galasieski and his wife, Liz, all of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one brother, Thomas Gales of Florida; one sister, Margaret Nielsen of Maryland; and four grandchildren, Michael Campese, and his wife, Angela, Rick Galasieski Jr., Megan Galasieski, and Michael Galasieski.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at Donald N. Gower Funeral Home, Route 209, Gilbert. A Mass of Christian follows at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Gilbert. The Rev. Father William J. McCawley will serve as celebrant. Interment will be in Gilbert Cemetery, Gilbert.
Viewing will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at the funeral home, with vigil prayers and veteran services during the evening hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 Independence Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301; or the American Cancer Society (Monroe Unit) RR 2, Box 2138, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
