Mary Carpenter Obituary
She is survived by one son, Charles D. Carpenter, sister-in-law, Patti Traylor, nieces Cindy Barnette, Leigh Layton, Julie Shaw, Allison Perna, and Sheryl Threadgill; and nephew, Bob Brown. She is also survived by special cousins, Jane Tibbets and Pauline Brown, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Jackie Smith and brother-in-law, Charles Smith, and brother Bobby Brown, and sister-in-law Lois Brown; brother, Wayne Brown and special cousin Joyce Davis.
Sue spent her entire life in Rockmart, Georgia. She began her career as a hairdresser at the young age of 16. She continued this work until she retired. During these years she developed many lifelong friendships with several of the ladies that trusted her to have them looking beautiful on a daily basis.
The next chapter of her life involved serving others as a caregiver. She worked as a caregiver until her health prevented her from being able to provide the services that her clients demanded. During this time, she, again, developed lifelong friendships with the families she worked with, and has stayed in touch with them until recently.
Her family would like to extend a very special thank you to Amedisys Hospice Care of Cartersville and the many nurses who took such good care of her and shower her so much love, support, and kindness.
A memorial service will be held in her honor on August 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Rockmart Presbyterian Church, 306 Marble Street, Rockmart, GA 30153. Everyone is invited to a light meal in the Fellowship Hall behind the church after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Rockmart Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 226, Rockmart, GA 30153.
