Edward Brown Obituary

Edward was born on April 25, 1921, in Gunnison, Utah, and passed away in Poway on Sunday, Sept. 8. He graduated cum laude with his BSME from Caltech in 1943 and later joined the USAF during WWII, serving in Burma Hump. He married his first wife Jean Henderson in 1945 and raised five children, teaching them the difference between right and wrong and to give rather than to receive. Jean passed away in 1989.
After a brilliant corporate career that included Edward being president of Remington Shaver, Remington Rand, Univac Computers, General Valve and Aerojet General, he retired to Rancho Bernardo in 1979. As a retiree he jumped into volunteerism with both feet becoming a pillar of the community. This included being RB Recreation Council Chairman for many years and leading the drive to build the RB Community Park gymnasium, tennis courts and pavilion, lawn bowling field and the senior center that bears his name. He also served as a SCORE counselor, was a Lions Club member and president, involved in many other civic groups and inducted into the RB Hall of Fame in 1989.
His favorite pastimes were all social. Golf and tennis were his passions until just recently. He played bridge regularly, was very skilled and won often with his second wife, Jeanne. His best times in life were being surrounded by family and friends, which occurred often. He reached his larger than life arms around Jeanne's six children and her seven grandchildren like his own. Family in his view is the anchor in one's life.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jeanne Young Brown of Rancho Bernardo; his daughter Linda Crook of Birmingham, MI; his son Craig Brown of Poway; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A service open to the public is being held at El Camino Memorial Park on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. with a celebration/reception following at the Ed Brown Senior Center at noon. In lieu of flowers, Edward would have preferred a donation to the EBSC for its operating needs.

My husband, Jack, worked for Ed at AeroJet and admired him greatly. We also knew Jean. What a good and honorable man he was. You were a great addition to him.

Dear Brown family, we are sorry for your loss, but always remember that God is ready to help you during this difficult time, like the bible says in Numbers 6:26 "May God lift up his face toward you and assign peace to you"!
