Frank Funa Obituary
Frank was a retired Air Force Captain receiving his engineering degree from Colorado State and his Master's in Business Science from the University of Northern Colorado. After the Air Force he worked in the aerospace industry. He was an Honorary Life Member of the Poway Elks and was active at the Local, District and National Elks levels. He was an avid golfer and dart thrower. It was his honor to serve on the Board of Directors of the Identity Theft Resource Center. He also belonged to the Poway American Legion, the Ramona Masons and the San Diego Al Bahr Shrine and Scottish Rite.
Frank is survived by his wife, Maxine of Poway; children, Debra Kirsten, John (Debby) Funa, and Suzanne (Steve) Catbagan, all of the Denver, CO, area; stepdaughter, Kathleen (Omer) Evans of Aromas, CA; and his many beloved grandchildren.
A Memorial service was held on June 5 at 11am at the Poway Elks Lodge, 13219 Poway Rd., Poway. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Frank's memory be sent to the Elks National Foundation, PO Box 310, Poway, CA 92074-0310.

We were with Frank in Germany aand i spent a lot of time traveling with him around half the world. We knew the whole family and still keep in touch with Marilyn. It is a sad day when one of our own passes on. Harvey & Carol Shaw

I didn't know Frank long, but the memories are sweet, especially 2009 Elks Ritual contest in El Cajon. Frank was such a tremendous resource and partly responsible for my 2nd place award.... boom chugga chugga in Heaven Frank, Linda Tucker (Poway, CA)

I thank GOD for this wonderful man. Most of my memories of "Bud", that was his family nick name, were my childhood days growing up in Pittsburgh and he was a perfect cousin. Kind, loving unconditionally and always had such a beautiful smile. The best of manners and behavior. His mother was my Aunt Toots, my father's sister who was one of a kind and very talented like my grandmother. The world will miss Bud and all the good and loving kindness that he shared with everyone. I have a Bud shaped part in my heart that I will always carry with me till we meet again. I have known Frank since we attended Sacred Heart grade school and Central Catholic HS together in Pittsburgh. We also worked together at Pitt's Medical school while in high school. I always enjoyed his company because he was always a bright and fun guy to be with. I last saw him at our 40th reunion and was saddened when he was unable to attend the 50th. When I called him about the 40th, he told me he cancelled a trip to Hawaii (as I recall) to be in Pgh to join his classmates. We will all miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I received this sad news from Bruce Kirsten. I did not know Frank, but I wish I had. Bruce spoke so fondly of him, and from the many wonderful forwards that have been passed on to me from Frank, he must have been a person cherished by all who knew him. He was a part of my life, and if he affected me, a stranger, I know how much he will be missed. I'm so very sorry for your loss.
