James Martin Obituary

PONTOTOC - James Ray Martin, 74, passed away Friday June 21, 2024, at Magnolia Manor Assisted Living in Ellisville, MS. He was born September 16, 1949, to James and Elizabeth Martin. He graduated Randolph High School in 1967. Ray was a member of Cooke Memorial Baptist Church and worked in management at Belden Wire Plant before working in the family cardboard business for several years. He was a very generous giver and loved by many.

Services will be held Sunday, June 23 at 2:00 pm at Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Pontotoc with LD Gillespie & Bro. Wayne Cobb officiating. Burial to follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens. Visitation to be held 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Baldwin Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of arrangements.

Ray is survived by one daughter Kirsten Martin & 3 grandchildren. Survivors also include with 3 sisters- Patsy Washington (Jimmy), Marilyn Gillespie, Kathy Duff (George); 1 brother- Tim Martin (Rushelle); and a host of nieces & nephews.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Larry Gillespie.

Pallbearers include many family members - Hunter Davis, Caleb Kidd, L.D. Gillespie, Chuck Robinson, George Duff & Steve Martin. Honorary pallbearers to serve are Owen Martin, Bennie Martin, Bill Martin & Jimmy Washington.
