Algird Arison Obituary

Algird A. Arison, 92, of Punta Gorda, Fla., (formerly of Fairfield, Conn.) passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

Al was a graduate of Bordentown Military Institute, Bordentown, N.J., and the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Conn. Al was a Korean War veteran and member of The Chosin Few.

Al and his wife Joan raised their family in Fairfield. He was an active coach of youth sports and an avid golfer. Relocation to Punta Gorda followed retirement from the O.M. Scott & Sons Company. For several years he volunteered with the Peace River Wildlife Center and Florida International Air Show.

In addition to his beloved wife Joan, Al is survived by his loving children Cheryl (Alan) Watson, Alan (Joni) Arison, Christopher (Geri) Arison, Pamela (Jim) Patterson, grandchildren Alan III, April, and Dylan Watson, Ryan and Gavin Arison, Kimberly and Courtney Arison, Anna and Everett Patterson and several dear nieces and nephews. Al was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Anna Arison of Stratford, Conn.

A private burial with military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery.

We were blessed to have Al in our lives and he will always live on in our hearts. His honest sincerity and integrity has influenced us in the most positive way. He has been a role model and genuine treasure in our lives. His legacy is will continue to thrive in the people he touched during his life. He will be remembered fondly and with the utmost admiration. His life was a life well lived. Rest in peace Uncle Al.
