Dr. Gary John Myers obituary

Gary Myers Obituary

Dr. Gary John Myers was called home by Our Lord on November 3, 2023. Beloved husband of Kathleen (Kat), his comfort dog Maggie Mae, brother of Lisa Myers of Akron, Ohio, and George Myers of Virginia. Gary graduated from Florida State University with a master's in marine biology and proceeded to earn his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Florida. For 38 years, Gary practiced Veterinary medicine at his clinic All Creatures Veterinary Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida. Gary assisted in the first dolphin rescue for Mote Marine Laboratory and was an honorary member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. An avid hockey fan, Gary played in several ice hockey leagues and was an official scorekeeper for the Florida Everblades for years. Gary shared his passion for the outdoors with his wife visiting and hiking the National Parks throughout the United States and Canada, including hiking two 14ers in the Rocky Mountains. Locally, Gary thoroughly embraced their beach life with boating, fishing, kayaking, biking, and gardening. Gary will be sadly missed by the countless friends he considered family, and the innumerable lives he touched and enriched throughout the years. Donations to the American Cancer Society or the Animal Welfare League of Charlotte County Florida would be greatly appreciated. A private celebration of life to be held at a future date. Such sad news, Dr Myers was the best Vet ever. He cared for our Sadie for 14 years. Then our Nevis and Wynter. You are missed in the community for all you did. Rest in peace now and just think of all pups that were there waiting for you.

Our sincerest condolences to you Kathleen, Maggie Mae & all of Gary´s family. I am so very sorry for the loss of your love Gary. I had the pleasure of getting to know Gary while visiting, staying with & spending time while down from Ontario, Canada, where Kathleen & our "Young" family lived beside one another growing up. Kathleen & I have shared our lives together as sister friends & I looked forward to getting to spend time with Kat & Gary whenever in Siesta Key. Gary & Kat were always great hosts & Gary a superb cook! I will
always remember how carefully & perfectly he plated our food with pride for every meal. Most recently when together last on our 2022 trip, on a Pontoon Boat ride on the causeway he gave up the helm to teach me how to drive the boat which I so appreciated and was great fun. His love for Kat, hockey and all things outdoors, hiking, bike riding, boating, golf cart rides & doggie days out, I always smiled when I received pictures from their latest greatest adventures. Gary you will
be very missed.
Love from Barb & Rob xo

My sincere condolences to you Kathleen and Gary's family. I've had the pleasure of meeting Gary through my life long friendship with Kat. We've been friends for over 50 years, and whenever I visit Siesta key it always included visits, special outings and watching hockey playoffs with them. They were always dressed in all the Lightning gear, even Maggie May. Gary was always so gracious and a beautiful soul. You will be missed dearly.
