Guy Donald Pfanz

Guy Donald Pfanz, 71, of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away at home on Sunday, August 31, 2025, after a decade of congestive heart failure.

Guy was born on February 8, 1954, in Pekin, Illinois, to Donald R. Pfanz and Norine M. (Holliday) Pfanz.

After attending Thomas Road Bible Institute, he became the pastor of Lilly Chapel in Mackinaw, Illinois, where he answered his calling to train young people for ministry.

In 1992, Guy continued that calling when he became the pastor of Muncie Alliance Church in Muncie, Indiana, and started an internship and coffee roasting "business in ministry" program. He spent the last 12 years in Port Charlotte, Florida, running Vecino's Coffee-a coffee roasting and espresso equipment company-and leading Bible studies on the beach, in Harley Davidson shops, and in his home. His final words on ministry were, "Church has gotten too complicated."

Guy had a daughter, Misty Pfanz, with his first wife, Judy (Snider) Pfanz, and a daughter, Alma Pfanz, with his second wife, Rebeca Bright.

Guy's passionate, and even reckless, approach to life and ministry created a rare spiritual space in which people felt comfortable, and the wide-ranging impact of his teachings have created a ripple effect felt in far-reaching and unexpected places. His passions throughout life were Jesus, coffee, and motorcycles, though in the year leading up to his death, he had bought an airplane and was excited about his flight lessons.

Guy is preceded in death by his sister, April Pfanz. He is survived by his sister, Holly Sommer (Tom Camper), of Peoria, Illinois; his daughter, Alma Pfanz of Port Charlotte, Florida; and his daughter, Misty Pfanz (Shane Lewis) and three grandchildren (Otto, Ernesto, and Posey Martinez) of Zionsville, Indiana.

Celebrations of Life will be held in Port Charlotte, Florida, at the Movement Church on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with refreshments following.
