Michael Shawn Driscoll

1950 - 2017

Michael Shawn Driscoll, 67, of Venice, FL, left this life on August 14, 2017 after a brief illness. Mike was born in Albany, New York on June 24, 1950, and in 1953 the family moved to Venice. He graduated from Epiphany Catholic School and Venice High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Upon his return from service, Mike worked as a machinist for Anderson Auto Parts and then opened his own business, Mike's Automotive Machine. Airboats, boating and a lot of fishing were his most notable hobbies.

Michael will be greatly missed and is survived by his sisters, sister Patricia Anne Driscoll, O.S.B. of Saint Benedict Monastery, Bristol, Virginia and Shannon E. Driscoll of Paris, France; brothers, Francis James (Jim) of Jasper, GA and John Allen of Tampa, FL; children, Michael Shawn Driscoll, Jr. and Michelle Leigh (Driscoll) Ellis, and many grandchildren and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Laurel T. Driscoll, sister Laurel Anne (Driscoll) Olsen, and brother Donald D. Driscoll.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 15th, at the Sarasota National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Farley Funeral Home, Venice.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Our Lady of Good Counsel Camp, Floral City, FL.
