Moshe Loth Obituary

Moshe Peter Loth, 82, died peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Peter survived Stutthof concentration camp, where he was born during World War II. After the war, Peter was raised in Poland by Juliana Szczepanska.

The Red Cross reunited Peter with his birth mother, Helena Loth, and at age 15 Peter moved to the United States, where he worked in the construction and nuclear power industries, and as a zookeeper at Miami Metro Zoo.

Later in life, Peter learned of his birth at Stutthof and his Jewish heritage, which he embraced, changing his name to Moshe. Moshe loved traveling, fishing, genealogy, cooking, animals and helping others. Moshe's extroverted and giving nature gained him many friends and admirers throughout his life.

Moshe is survived by his wife, Valerie, as well as his daughters, Bridgette, Natassia, Juliana; his sons, Peter Jr. and Phillip; his stepdaughter, Sandra; his stepson, Jason; and his grandchildren, Grant, David, Chloe, Josie, Taylor, Maggie, James, Asher, Thomas, Abby, Emma, Julianna, Rider, Rhys, Penny, Zoe, Sophie and Marley.

Moshe is also survived by his two sisters, Georgia and Barbara.

Contributions in Moshe's memory can be made to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum at www.ushmm.org.

I did know Moshe but I know his sister Barbara. From what I read, Moshe overcame unimaginable hurdles. And went on to lived an amazing life and shared lots of love.

I was blessed to have met him earlier this year and although our conversation was short I will treasure it always. His story will forever be one of most fascinating I have ever read about! He truly had an extraordinary life!!

Pete was a member of our family for many years as the father of our daughter in law. We only met a few times but have enduring memories of his cheerfulness and genuine friendly interest in our lives.
May he rest in peace.

I knew him as father to Phil and grandad to Rhys and Zoe. He was a gentle amiable man. May his soul repose in peace!

Peter is my Father in law and one of the most interesting people I know. I loved to mess with him and imitate his German accent. His son, Peter is the greatest gift I have ever received from him. He will be missed.

Loth Family, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It was a joy to have met Pete and to hear his story during my time at Syracuse in ministry with Sandy. May God grant you peace during your grief.

My grandpa always made me laugh, challenged my thinking, and encouraged me not to let anyone stop me. I love you, Grandpoo, and I long to reunite with you someday.

I first met Peter in 2015 as a prospective father-in-law to my daughter and immediately saw what most people knew about him. He was such a warm and friendly man, very witty too.
He would always tease me about my inability to tolerate the cold weather.
My children and grandchildren love and adore him.
May his soul find the rest it deserves. Amen.
