Rachel Gould Obituary

Rachel Mae Gould, 80, of Punta Gorda, Florida loving wife of over 57 years of Norman Gould passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on February 28, 2018 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born October 30, 1937 in Lancaster, New Hampshire, daughter of Theodore Collins and Frances Stevens. Rachel and her husband moved from Connecticut which she resided for over 36 years to Punta Gorda, Florida in 1993 after retiring from Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, Connecticut where she worked for 30 years. Rachel worked part-time at Publix in Punta Gorda for 18 years and enjoyed working with the public and seeing all the familiar faces. A devout Catholic Rachel was a long-time faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Church.

Rachel was an Elkette, she loved to sing as she had a beautiful voice and you could find her singing karaoke when she got a chance. She loved playing bocce and spending time with good friends and family when they would visit and always loved her return trips to Connecticut to catch up with loved ones; as much as she loved the FL sunshine she missed her family immensely. She was a kind soul who cares so much for others and always wanted to please them.

Rachel is survived by her loving husband, Norman; devoted daughter, Debra (Barry) Ashworth of Enfield, Connecticut; son, Robbie (Karen) Gould of Enfield, Connecticut; five special grandchildren, Sasha (Racheal) Miller, Chelsi Kohler, Alex Gould, Hannah Gould and Emma Gould all of Enfield, Connecticut; four great grandchildren, Areyah and Daijah Spicer and Tristen and Teegan Miller all of Enfield, Connecticut; sister-in-laws, Cathy Collins, Beatrice Collins both of Enfield, Connecticut and Valerie Collins of Groveton, New Hampshire; several nephews and nieces. Rachel was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence, Eddie; her twin, Robert and Theodore; sister, Barbara; and great-grand-daughter Delany Miller.

Memorial Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 9, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 211 W Charlotte Ave. Punta Gorda, FL. Interment to follow at Charlotte Memorial Gardens, Punta Gorda.

Rachel's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to TideWell Hospice for their professionalism, kindness, compassion and care given to Rachel and her entire family.

Mama, how has it been seven years without you? I dreaded that day that would come eventually, I would lose you. It has not been easy I think of you always. I miss you terribly and my heart breaks on the occasions that I really needed to speak with you! I pray you are with Dad now and you hear my undying love for you and know that I love you always.
