Ronnie Sousa Obituary

Ronnie William Sousa, of North Port, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the age of 73.

Ronnie was born on February 4, 1951 in New Haven, Connecticut to Valentino "Val" and Elinor "Ellie" Sousa. He was the 2nd of 4 siblings. Ronnie loved to tell stories about growing up on the beaches of West Haven, where he and his older brother Val fished and clammed, and Savin Rock where they enjoyed the amusement park and watched their father race on weekends at the speedway.

After graduating from Hermon High School in Levant, Maine, Ronnie enlisted in the US Navy. Returning from duty, he spent time in Boston and Provincetown, MA, where he enjoyed working as a hairstylist and florist.

He moved to Florida in the 1980s, eventually settling in Englewood where he enjoyed his retirement cooking for family and friends, working in his garden with his beautiful orchids, painting, and crafting, and taking care of his "girl", his beloved dog, Monkey.

Ronnie is survived by his older brother, Val Sousa Sr. and sister-in-law, Maria, of Islamorada, FL, nephew, Val Sousa Jr. (Lisa) and great-nephews Cameron and Cody Sousa, of Pompano Beach, his many wonderful friends in North Port (who he lovingly called his "Myaka" family), and Monkey.

We will miss your laughter, Ronnie. The world has lost a beautiful spirit.
