Donald McKitrick Obituary

Donald James (Mac) McKitrick

OAK HARBOR: Donald James (Mac) McKitrick, 67, passed away in Stein Hospice Care Center Tuesday morning after a lengthy illness. Don was born on March 17, 1945 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Austin and Geraldine (Wilken) McKitrick.

Don was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Detroit University. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Burger King Midwest R Corporation for 39 years as a District Supervisor. He enjoyed sports, celebrating his St. Patrick's Day birthday in his Irish attire, playing cards, and vacationing with his family.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn, to whom he was married for over 41 years; his four amazing children, John (Julie) McKitrick, Shaun (Kasi) McKitrick, Jennifer (Curt)Cherry, Donielle (Jeremy) Lake; 11 grandchildren, Madison, Rylee, Logan, Lilah, Nathan and McKenzie McKitrick, Austin and Olivia Cherry, Cammie, Bella, and Keeley Lake; his sister Diana Wieber; his brother, Gary McKitrick; and his four sisters-in-law, Janice Boren, Patricia Weiss, Vickie Crawford, and Deborah Fabera; several nieces and nephews. His family was truly blessed by this wonderful man. He was a loving and devoted husband and father whose main goal in life was to take care of his wife and children.

Including his parents, Don was preceded in death by his niece Donna Muth, and his brother-in-law Dennis Wieber

Friends may call on Friday, January 18 from 4 pm until 8 pm at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at the First Baptist Church, 211 E. Monroe Street, Sandusky.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Don's memory may be made to Stein Hospice Services, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 www steinhospice.org; or the Sandusky VFW Post 2529, 604 W. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio 44870.

The McKitrick family requests that if anyone has a photograph of Don that they would like to share to bring it to the visitation to go on a picture memory board.
