Lowell Kirby Obituary

PORT CLINTON: Lowell "Buggs" Kirby, 64, of Port Clinton, Ohio, died Friday, September 3, 2010 at Briarfield of Sandusky, in Sandusky, Ohio.
He was born on September 8, 1945 in McCreary County, Kentucky, the son of the late Simon Louis and Alena Rachel (Strunk) Kirby. He married his first wife, Delores Cook in 1961 and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2001. He married his former wife Sally Shiets in October 1970 and she survives.
Buggs was a truck driver, working for Mid States Trucking Company. He was an avid musician, playing the guitar and singing with the Silver Wings Band in the Port Clinton area and then with the Cabin Fever Band in Tiffin, Ohio.
Survivors include his daughters, Kristen Kirby, of Port Clinton, OH, and Marlene (Todd) Bollett, of Fostoria, OH; sons, Richard Allen (Patty) Kirby and Steven Lowell Kirby, both of Daytona Beach, FL, and Travis Christopher Slauterbeck-Kirby, of California; step-daughter, Amy Shiets, of Port Clinton, OH; step-son, Jay (Heather) Shiets, of Reynoldsburg, OH; twenty one grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Mike) Kelley and Della Kirby, both of Madison, IN, and Rose Wheeler, of Port Clinton, OH; brothers, Dewell Vernal Kirby, of Madison IN, Denvil (Carol) Kirby, of Port Clinton, OH, and William Louis (Eva) Kirby, of Madison, IN; former wife, Sally (Shiets) Kirby of Port Clinton, OH; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Delores.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at the Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, 1124 Fulton Street, Port Clinton, OH from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 12 p.m. His nephew, Tony Gunter will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
