Eric Wright Obituary
McDermott— Eric Lee Wright, 49, of McDermott, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born May 8, 1974 in Portsmouth, a son of Larry D. and Priscilla Phipps Wright of Lucasville, who survive.
Eric was a 1992 Northwest High School graduate and a Lieutenant at the Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Emily Orin Wright, who he married July 25, 2015. Also surviving are his children: Nicholas Flaugher (Nikki Blankenship) of Portsmouth, Dillon Wright of Lucasville, Darian (Wyatt) Blevins of West Union, Noah Wright of Portsmouth, and Makenna Wright of Portsmouth, and a granddaughter, Delilah Wright. He is also survived by a brother, Matthew Wright (Frankie Stephenson) of Otway, and a sister, Stacie Wright of Ashland, as well as many nieces and nephews who he adored.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville, with David Orin and Rhonda Morkassel officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until the funeral service.
A memorial service will also be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Big Run United Baptist Church, with Amos Moore, Skip Stewart, and Charlie Montgomery officiating.

See this beautiful lake here, well if it weren´t for Eric Wright I would have never learned to swim and would have never been able to enjoy this lake to its fullest. For years I would just stay on the boat and watch everyone else swim until that one year, the year everyone was down at the lake and my cousin Eric told me that if I didn´t get in the water he would throw me in. Well I got in the water, with a rope that was attached to the boat, so then he told me I could use that rope for one day then he was gonna cut it, I got in without the rope. I don´t know if he ever knew how thankful I was for that, now I can´t imagine not getting in the water and I have him to thank for it. He was an amazing person and I can´t even believe that he is now gone, when I got the news about his passing I was absolutely devastated. Sending my thoughts and prayers to his friends and family, he will be dearly missed by anyone who had the pleasure to know him.

I am so very sorry to hear. I am praying for all his family. Eric was a great high school friend of mine...I wish I hadn't lost touch. I'd love to make fun of Mr. Glenn one more time with him...(he had a spot on impression) that was so funny. I'll always remember him being funny and making me laugh...what a terrible loss far too soon.
