J.T. Grooms Obituary
LUCASVILLE— John Thomas "J.T." Grooms II, 27, of Lucasville, died Saturday, July 1, 2023.
He was born October 6, 1995 in Huntington, WV, a son of the late John Thomas and Jamianne Spriggs Grooms.
J.T. was a 2015 Valley High School graduate where he played football and attended Shawnee State University. He was an avid sports fan of the Valley Indians, Ohio State University Football and Basketball teams, and the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed being the Valley Basketball Public Address announcer on occasion.
He was preceded by his parents, grandparents Homer Chilton and Hazel Mae Dawson Grooms and James and Mary Anne Harr Spriggs; aunts, Mary Ellen Grooms, Martha Jane Grooms Kirk; and his uncle, Joseph E. Grooms.
J.T. is survived by his uncle, Homer David (Lavonda) Grooms of Tulsa, OH; his aunts, Elsie (Mike) Smith of London, OH, and Jill (Craig) Staggs of Sciotoville; 34 cousins and great cousins.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023 in Mound Cemetery in Piketon. Arrangements are under the direction of the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville.
