PORTSMOUTH-Mary Alice (Schisler) Bailey, 92, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 in her home. She was born September 12, 1928 to the late Leslie and Garnet (McCarty) Schisler. Mary Alice was a life-long educator and taught in the North Carolina, Kentucky and Ohio school systems and served as a career education coordinator for twenty-five years in Scioto County, Ohio. Mary Alice was a member of Holy Redeemer Church. She volunteered in many organizations including meals on wheels, Samaritan's purse, and reading instruction at Holy Redeemer Elementary. She enjoyed participation in local tennis leagues, playing bridge, and following University of Kentucky sports. Mary Alice is survived by daughter Lesley Jones (Joe) of Portsmouth, sons Mark Bailey of Nashville, Tennessee, and Andy Bailey (Molly) of Dublin, Ohio, and grandchildren, Aaron Jones, Jack Bailey, Elizabeth Bailey, and Hannah Bailey, and many nieces and nephews.

I was sorry to read of Mrs. Bailey's passing. She was still Miss Schisler when I had her for a gym teacher at PHS. I was very fond of her over the years. She was a beautiful person and so kind to everyone. My deepest condolences to the family.

Lesley, Mark, Andy and family,
We are so sad to hear about the loss of your beautiful mother. She always had a welcoming smile on her face for anyone. She seemed to know, no strangers. She had such a fulfilling life and made the lives of so many young ones, we are sure, much more meaningful in all her help with them. She is going to be missed by you and so many other’s whose life she touched. She is with Jack once again now, who was there with arms opened, waiting to hold her again. May you Rest In Peace Mary Alice. Thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
