1937 - 2022

Abraham Garcia Sr., 84, passed away of natural causes January 2, 2022, at Casa of Hobart Nursing Home. He was born November 30, 1937, in Puerto Rico, the youngest son of Ramon and Maria Rosa Garcia. Abraham had recently celebrated 60 years of marriage to the love of his life Maria T. Garcia during which time they were blessed with five children. He retired in 2000 from Inland Steel with 27 years of service, and he was a member of the Local 1010 Union. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents Ramon Garcia and Maria Rosa, his siblings and his eldest son Abraham Garcia Jr. He is survived by his loving wife Maria T Garcia, daughters Maria (Hugh) Patton of Gary, IN, Anna (Shawn) Jackson of Lithonia, GA, sons Jose Garcia of Hammond, IN, and Ricardo (Mary) Garcia of Gary, IN, a granddaughter Deanna Dennie and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation Friday, January 7, 2022, from 1-6:00 p.m. Funeral service, Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. All services held at Genesis Christian Church, 2328 Old Ridge Rd. Hobart, IN, Pastor Juaquin Rodriguez officiating. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery.
