Vincent, Carl September 26, 1942 - September 11, 2014. Carl was born to Cleotha Turner and Alphonso Vincent on September 26, 1942 in West Helena, Arkansas and was the 2nd of 5 siblings. He was raised in Gary, Indiana by his aunt, Geneva (Louis) Suttles. He was educated at Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana, Clark College in Atlanta, Georgia and Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Juanita Parsons of Atlanta, Georgia in 1963 and to this union three children were born. His lifelong career of teaching vocal and instrumental music from elementary through senior high school included tenures in Dalton, Georgia and Gary, Indiana for 33 years. He was a lifetime member of the Gamma Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, where he once served as president. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Juanita, became full-time RV'ers traveling around the United States. They eventually settled in Surprise, Arizona living the outdoor lifestyle at the Happy Trails RV Resort. Carl passed peacefully from this life on the morning of September 11, 2014 after a gradual decline in health. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; 3 children, Victor, Toni and Vaughn (Tausha); 3 grandsons, Khalil, Terrell and Devin; 1 sister, Doris (Roosevelt) Clark of Gary, Indiana; and 1 brother, Winfred Davis Jr., of West Helena, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Happy Trails RV Resort in Surprise, Arizona where he resided.

Just found out today (4-1-2022) this great man is gone. I was a student at Wirt High Scool graduating in 1978. I was the 1st Violinist to transfer into Wirt where there was no orchestra. He saved my music and was a true advocate. The best ever. I salute Mr. Vincent and still remember. God bless his family and friends.

I had Mr. Vincent for choir his first year at Wirt High School. We called him "Fred" although I don't remember why. Something to do with a joke he told us I think. : ) He was a great teacher and choir director. We had a LOT of fun in his class and he made the world a better place. May he rest in peace.
