CECIL EUGENIA KROST (nee Crowell)
Age 102, of Lowell, IN, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2003. She is
survived by 2 daughters, Meredith (Donald Peters) Reilly of Crown Point, Paula
(Donald) Tilton of Lowell; 10 grandchildren, Linda Reilly of Lowell, John
(Sandra) Reilly of Shelby, Patricia (Glenn) Krepps of Stafford, VA, Michael
(Janet) Reilly of Crown Point, Mary (Ed) van Wijk of Lowell, Brian Reilly of
Crown Point, Timothy (Linda) Tilton of Alhambra, IL, Gerard (Michelle) Tilton
of Green Oaks, IL, Todd (Dolores) Tilton of Lombard, IL, Kendel (Desiree)
Tilton of Indianapolis, IN; 22 great grandchildren, Jeremy (DeAnna) Gapp, Jed
Gapp, Jennifer (Douglas) Walczak, Christina (Rob) Dull, Elizabeth (Dan
Robinson) Krepps, Colleen Krepps, Nicholas, Nathan and Matthew Reilly, Cecilia
and Johan van Wijk, Anna, Samantha and Jacob Reilly, Sarette and Sean Tilton,
Brandon, Tatum, Kian, Jona and Kyle Tilton, Iris Tilton; 3 great
-grandchildren, Daniel Gapp, Jack and Riley Dull; 1 nephew, Kenneth Knight;
great niece and nephew, Abigail Hawkins and Ryan (Deborah) Knight; life long
friend, Howard Barr. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Krost in
1967; 1 sister, Essa (Ed) Knight and 1 infant grandson, Thomas Edward Reilly.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 19, at 2:00 P.M. at the First
United Methodist Church in Lowell, IN. Pastor Jeff Newton officiating. Burial
will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Crown Point, IN. Friends are invited to
call on Wednesday from 2-5 and 7-9 P.M. at the Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E.
Commercial Ave., Lowell, IN. Cecil was a member of the Methodist Churches in
Crown Point and Lowell, IN. She was a charter member of the American Legion
Auxillary, charter member of the Tri Kapa Sorority in Crown Point and a member
of the Indian Trail Grange, Questers, Meet Your Neighbor Club, and multiple
bridge clubs which she played weekly. Cecil served as Justice of the Peace for
Eagle Creek Township in the 1970's. Cecil attended the Northwestern University
School of Music. She taught violin and piano for 35 years and played in a
music ensemble in Evanston on Friday afternoons for many years. Cecil was a
previous member of the Gary Symphony Orchestra (Northwest Indiana Symphony).
With her husband John, children and grandchildren, she shared many camping
trips. She made many handknit afghans for all her children, grandchildren,
numerous friends and charity donations. Cecil was well known for her homemade
yeast breads, jellies, pies, and always filled cookie tins. She taught all her
grandchildren to have fun playing cards. Cecil was always ready for good fun
and a laugh.
