Charles Cochran Obituary

CHARLES ROBERT "CHUCK" "PAPA" COCHRAN, age 73, of Hobart, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015. He was born on October 6, 1942 in Gary, Indiana to the late Albert and Ruby Cochran. Chuck was a 1960 graduate of Hobart High School and a retired employee of Bulkmatic Transport. He married the love of his life, Veronica Lach, on January 22, 1966 in Hobart and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January 2016. Chuck was most comfortable with a wrench in his hand and believed that if he couldn't fix it, "it wasn't broke to begin with." He loved fishing, especially the family trips to Canada. Chuck will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Veronica "Ronnie"; 3 children, Melinda (Michael) Reinhart of Merrillville, Melissa (Edwin) Gonzalez and Michael (Trish) Cochran, all of Hobart; 6 grandchildren, Jacob and Lucas Reinhart, Madelyn and Olivia Gonzalez, Eleanor and Kaitlin Cochran; sisters, Nancy (late Richard) Quinn of Morton, IL, Lila (Dennis) Malott of AR; loving mother-in-law, Vickie Lach; 2 sisters-in-law, Cynthia Lach and Mary Ann (John) Matta; brothers-in-law, Leon (Michelle) Lach and Stephen (Dianne) Lach; many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Chuck was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Leon "Leo" Lach. A funeral service for Chuck will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church, 207 Kelly Street, Hobart, with Rev. Charles R. Strietelmeier officiating. There will be visitation on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church and on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. For information, please call Rees Funeral Home at (219) 942-2109 or go online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.
