passed away January 19, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois and was born October 17, 1928 in Charleston, Missouri to the late Bert & Essie Gregory. She was the sixth of seven children. Clara was an active member of Koinonia M. B. Church since 1971 under the leadership of Pastor LeVern Swain. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Willie Sumpter and five siblings. She leaves to cherish her memory devoted sister Mae F. Anthony; devoted nieces Shirley L. (Alfred) Connell, Saundra (Willie) Horne, Tiffany (Gerald) Pointer Brenda McCoy; Pat & Charlene Cox; Nephews David (Brenda) Anthony, Thomas (Monique) Anthony, Mark Anthony (Joy Givens), Willie (Kelly) Horne Jr. and Michael Cox and a host of other relatives and dear friends. Visitation Sunday January 27, 2019 from 12 -8:00p.m with family hours 6-8:00p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel. Funeral services Monday January 28, 2019 at 11:00a.m. at Koinonia M. B. Church Pastor LeVern Swain officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery

Ms. Clara was a very sweet, loving, caring, friendly neighbor who I miss a lot. I miss seeing her smiling face every time I went to visit with her. She was a really good neighbor who is greatly missed.
