Clifford Ashley Obituary

CLIFFORD ASHLEY Hobart, Indiana Age 81, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2006 at Saint Mary Medical Center. He was a longtime area resident and served his country during World War II in the European front with the Army. Clifford was retired from Ford Stamping Plant where he worked as an overhead crane operator for 33 years. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 54 and V.F.W. Post No. 5365. He made numerous donations to charitable organizations and will be remembered by his family as a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Clifford is survived by his children: Naoma (Edward) Wheeler of OK, Deana Remaley of Hobart, Darrell Ashley of IL; brother: Harold (Lois) Ashley of MO; grandchildren: Jeffrey (Patty), Jeffery, Jill and Scott Remaley; great grandchildren: Joel, Devon and Connor Remaley; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia, parents, Claud and Stella Ashley, sister, Florence Hale an infant sister. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Gerald T. Walworth officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart. Visiting hours will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2006, with an American Legion/V.F.W. service at 6:00 p.m., at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart.

It has been a pleasure to serve in the Honor Guard in this funeral and I would like to thank you for the excellent refereshments/meal afterwards. It is always an honor to serve those who have gone before and show my respect for their sacrafice & labor in wartime.
