Doris Jean Wilson nee Gammon age 75 passed away at home of a lingering illness on Saturday August 15, 2020 with her family around her. She was Born on July 18, 1945, raised in Memphis, TN and later moved to Gary, IN. Doris was employed by The Gary School Corporation for 42 years and retired in 2014. Doris was a member of New Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she served in various programs and committees including the education staff of the PNBC and worked diligent as a Sunday School teacher and became a leader in planning and organizing youth outings. Doris was preceded in death by spouse Charles D. Wilson Sr. and parents, Tyler Sr. and Clara Gammon. She is survived by her only son, Charles D. Wilson Jr., 2 sisters Juanita of Gary, IN and Wilma of Dayton, OH, 3 brothers, Tyler Jr., of Oklahoma City, OK, Robert & Edward of Memphis, TN, 3 sisters in law , 1 brother in law, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and 1 Godchild, Vivian Raye Hill. All services will be at New Mt. Moriah B.C. 1917 Carolina St. of Gary, IN Rev. W.N. Reed, officiating on August 24th. Social guidelines and masks are required. Visitation will begin at 9am and at 10:30, there will be a presentation of the Beta Mu chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. Services will begin at 11:00am. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Hobart, IN.
