Elder Rumph Obituary

ELDER T.W. RUMPH, JR. Gary, Indiana Our Community has sustained a great loss in the passing of Elder T.W. Rumph, Jr., who was a leader in the spiritual community for many years. He went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 6, 2005 at approximately 9 a.m. He gave his final exhortation to the Bethel family Sunday, June 5, 2005. He encouraged the congregation to always praise God. His subject was, "Perfected Praise Produces Much Power". When Pastor Rumph Sr. went to his final regard, Elder T.W. Rumph, Jr. was appointed Pastor of Bethel Temple Church of God in Christ, by Presiding Prelate, Bishop Oscar Freeman, February 16, 1992. His first Pastoral message was, "Something Better than Silver and Gold" (February 23, 1992). His community involvements were: C.O.G.I.C. Clergy Council, Interfaith Clergy Council, One Church One School, Board member of the Urban League, member of the Dr. Martin Luther King Service team. He leaves to cherish wonderful memories: devoted wife and friend, Lucille; loving daughter and friend, E. Nikole "Stinka"; wise and endearing mother, Subella Rumph; brothers, Michael (Doris), Emmanuel (Agnes), Kenneth (Everlean) and Briggs; brothers-in-law, Bishop W.B. Henderson (Mary), Ulysses Henderson (Ola), Preston Henderson (Mary), James Riley Henderson; sister-in-law, Beverly Vincent (Willie); god daughters, Kaiya A. Cole & Tracey Bryant; god son, Kortez E. Cole; very devoted friend, Pastor Lawrence Smith; play daughter and son, Marvin & Deborah Walton; host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He had a special place in his heart for the entire Bethel Temple family. Visitation from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2005. Praise service - Celebration of Life, Friday, June 10, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Homegoing service Saturday, June 11, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Officiating, Bishop E. Bobby Warren, Prelate of the Indiana Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart, IN. All services will be held at Bethel Temple C.O.G.I.C., 110 W. 43rd Ave., Gary, IN 46408. Professional services rendered by: Guy & Allen Funeral Directors, Inc.
