Frank Crayton

1921 - 2021

Frank Crayton, 100, of Gary, IN transitioned on December 14, 2021. He was born September 5, 1921, in Mayersville, Mississippi to the late Allen and Lillie Crayton. Frank accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young man and in his later years became a Deacon at New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. Frank was an Army Veteran and served in World War II. He retired from U.S. Steel Southworks after working there for 30 years. Frank is preceded in death by parents; daughters, Maxine and Carol; great grandchildren, Tyaty'Anna and Caleb; siblings Pauline, Allen Jr, Mamie, and Chanie. He is survived by his loving wife Ersell, of 77 years; daughters, Lillie, Frankie, Eliza, Barbara, JoAnne, and Sharon; sons, Charles (Sharron), Carl (Saundra), Peter (Roslyn), and Michael (Stephanie); grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. Visitation Wednesday, December 22, 2021, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Homegoing services immediately following at 11:00a.m. All services at New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 1917 Carolina Street, Gary, Indiana. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery. Masks are required.
