Hollis Mitchell Jr.

HOLLIS MITCHELL, JR. "Uncle Lute" Gary, Indiana Hollis Jr. was born on July 22, 1932, to Hollis Sr. & Jennie Lou Mitchell. He accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a member of St. Andrew A.M.E. Zion Church. Hollis Jr., affectionately known to everyone as Uncle Lute, was a kind hearted person who was always there when a helping hand was needed. His passions were photography, reading, movies and CNN news. Hollis Jr. made his transition from this earthly world to his heavenly home on Oct. 14, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollis Sr. and Jennie Lou Mitchell, sister, Charlie Mae Smith, nephew, Darryl Kelly, niece, Vernita Reddix, and cousin, Juanita Alexander. He leaves to cherish his memories, loving, devoted sister, Margaret Kelly; 10 nieces and nephews, Thelma Green, Darlene Kelly, Mary McClinon, Charles (Kimberly) Kelly, Deborah Delk, Darrin Kelly, Leatha Smith, Elizabeth Thompson, Eugene Smith Jr., Regina Smith; cousins, Christine Jones, Bennie Simmons, Mildred Williamson, Sallie B. Glenn, William (Ismus) Borom, Clarence (Diane) Borom, Jacob (Almetta) Crawford, and Eddie Borom; special friend, Donya Perry; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, from 12 to 8:00 p.m. Family Hour 7 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007 at 11:00 a.m., all services at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 West 11th Ave. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
