Joe Steele Obituary

Joe E. Steele (83) of Gary, Indiana made his transition peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Joe was born to the late William Penn and Rillie Steele and was one of fourteen children. He was a faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church. He loved prayer, Bible study, and enjoyed fishing and hunting and he loved his family. He was part of the 20th-century family club for over 60 years. He retired from Ford Motor Company and later was employed by Gary Community School Corporation and Spirit of God Accelerated Education. He was preceded in death by his late wife Elizabeth (Williams) Steele. He leaves behind his granddaughter Zhanee (Chris) James, special daughters, Linda Savage, Dana Logan, Nichole Barksdale, and son, Pierre McCoy; three sisters, Guise Rene Lemon, Argie "Alice" (Frank) Dozier, Katherine (Robert) Brooks, two brothers, Eugene (Beatrice) Steele, Aaron (Alfreda) Steele; special brother-in-law Willie Green, special friend Bert Weston and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation, Friday, November 12, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. all services at Christ United Methodist Church 201 West Ridge Road. Rev. G. Thomas Jones, officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
