Karen Czarnecki

KAREN CZARNECKI (nee Mikulich) Age 61 years, of Roselawn, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2004. She grew up in Glen Park and attended Lew Wallace High School before relocating and graduating from Merrillville High School in 1961. her passion was art and she attended the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and completed her B.S. in Education from Indiana University. She taught English and Art at Andrean High School, taught at St. Bridget's in Hobart, and substitute taught at North Newton. Karen also was a substitute teacher at Lincoln Elementary School in Roselawn and remained a benefactor to the school for many years, helping with education grants and making class presentations. After raising her family, she returned to her art career and served briefly as the Gallery Director for IUN. Preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Mikulich. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Robert Czarnecki of Roselawn; daughter: Nicole Czarnecki of Chicago; son: Jason Czarnecki of Roselawn; and brother: John W. Mikulich of Hobart; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. Burial Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 2-8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the family
