LaDaney Barrett Dungy, age 88, passed away Saturday August 26, 2023 in Gary, Indiana. She was born to parents Jessie Barrett (LA) and Sadie Childress (KY) on June 28, 1935. LaDaney, a 1954 graduate of Roosevelt High School, married Roland I. Dungy, October 11, 1957. From this union four children were born Richard, Barrett, Dawn and Kelli. LaDaney attended St. Timothy under the pastorate of the late Rev. Dr. R. Lowery. She retired after twenty-six years as an inspector at the Anco Anderson Company. She is preceded in death by both parents, her husband of 55 years, Roland Dungy, siblings Gene Barrett (Ollie), Sylvia Walker, Maurice Taylor (Kay), Rita Jackson, Nikki Anderson (Ariel J.). LaDaney is survived by her children Richard (Towanna) of Gary, IN, Barrett (Lisa) of Conyers, GA, Dawn of Nairobi, Kenya and Kelli of Gary, IN; beloved step-son Barry Dungy of Chicago, IL; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; siblings Jacquelyn Gholson (Jerome) of Gary, IN, Lawrence Taylor of Louisville, KY, Yvonne Howard (Albert) of Las Vegas, NV, Sonja Brewster (Larry) of Kankakee, IL; Visitation Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 10-11:00a.m. with funeral service immediately following. All services at St. Timothy Community Church 1600 W. 25th Avenue.
